Paisa Spanish is broader than parlache, and parlache is broader and more dynamic than a criminal stereotype. Terms such as parce, berraco and chimba now circulate far beyond Medellín, so one word cannot reliably identify a speaker’s city, class, education, neighborhood, or relationship to the social history where a form first became salient.
